Halloweeeeeen

Look at that...only one week later and it's making it to my blog! My timing is improving! I LOVE Halloween! It is such a fun holiday.

This year we tried to "simplify" things in the costume department, and ended up with some great ones. Jonah didn't really care much. He just wanted to be a Jedi, or Luke, or whatever grabbed him at that moment. I don't have a ton of pictures of him because he wouldn't stay in costume for more than a few minutes. He even only lasted for one street of trick-or-treating. Crazy kid! Noah and Zoe went as a Grandma and Grandpa. Very funny! Noah really worked his big booty and you could hardly recognize Zoe with her comb-over. We had so much fun just putting the costumes together!

Friday started with the kids' school parades and carnivals (forgot my camera....ugh!). Their costumes were big hits. I loved that people could hardly recognize them. Noah was really excited about his costume, but got really self conscious about his "jugs". He got over it though when the kids gave him such a great response. Zoe loved acting her part. She would shuffle her feet and hunch her back. It was great!

Nana met us at the carnival with Jon and Stacy, then we headed back to my house. It has become a tradition to make Witch Fingers. They are easy enough that the kids can help make them, yet they have the perfect look for Halloween. I love to give them away with a string (licorice rope) tied to one finger with a note that says, "'Don't forget' to have a Happy Halloween!"

Halloween started with decorating pumpkins. Yes, we were running a little behind this year. But hey, better late than never. Noah cried over a piece that Zoe had picked, so she gave it up for him. As a bonus for her generosity, she got to make hers with two faces and everyone was satisfied.

Next, we met up again with Jon and Stacy and went up to visit my Grandma. She lives in an assisted living facility and they were having a little trick-or-treat activity for the residents. Great-gram is so funny. She is the most wonderful lady, but does NOT like to get her picture taken. You can see in the pictures that she wouldn't stop eating or look at the camera for me to take one, until her friend next to her gave her a nudge. We had cookies and doughnuts, then the kids walked around the circle of residents and received candy from them. It was great being around all the grandmas and grandpas.

After visiting with Gram, it was back to our house for more Halloween fun. We had Goblin Burgers (just make a face with veggies on your cheeseburger or sloppy-joe) and fries, along with our Witches Brew. Then it was time to get back into costume for big event: Trick-or-Treating. Jon was in charge of passing out the candy at our house while I walked around with the kids.

Once we had collected our loot, it was back to the house to count our bounty. Noah had to strip off his costume as fast as he could. He told my mom that the balls we were using for his bosoms were "making his nipples sweat". Hahahahah! That made my mom's night! He was complaining about his ta-ta's and bra straps all night. He didn't get much sympathy from us women. ;)

My brother and Sandy arrived just in time for a game of Settler's of Catan to finish off the night. I was exhausted the next day (and probably the day after that), but it sure was fun! I LOVE MY KIDS!!

Wrapping Up October

October proved to be pretty busy the last couple of weeks. Brace yourselves people....it's going to be a long, but great, ride.
Zoe and Noah both had school programs in October. Zoe's program was based on Aesop's Fables. She was the Queen. Aesop came to court to entertain them with some of his tales, which were acted out. I forgot some of the great, yet simple lessons in his stories. It was very entertaining and humorous. The kids did a great job.

Queen (Zoe) and King (Soloman)

Noah's program was the story of Christopher Columbus. He was the Head Sailor, who steered Colombus' ship. Columbus was Noah's good friend Ty, which made it even more fun for him. I love that Carden places such great emphasis on history, especially our country's roots and foundation.

Cutest sailor ever!
Another fun event in October was FrEaKy FrIdAy at Wheeler Farm. Chris' mom bought us tickets. The kids went on a hay ride then we watched FrEaKy FrIdAy done by Clayton Productions. They were all dressed up like zombies and walked around in true character. They would stare you down and even growl at you. They had my niece, Daelee, in tears (she scares easily) and had the other kids pretty creeped out. Then they sang and danced to some favorite Halloween songs like Thriller, etc. It was short and sweet....perfect for us and the dad's that had to sit through it. Afterwards we walked around the grounds for a few minutes and took some pictures. All in all, a fun family night.

That weekend we had Regional Conference. Our Stake was fortunate enough to be invited down to the Conference Center. Pres. Monson presided and spoke. What a great experience to have my family is such a wonderful place, filled with the spirit of our living prophet. I loved it!

Originally we planned to take Trax down, but figured we might be late. Afterwards, the kids really wanted to take the train, so Chris (cute dad that he is) rode Trax home with them. They thought it was so fun. It was especially great for Noah. The conductor of the train invited him up where he was driving and even let him honk the horn. A memory he will not soon forget.

Adam and Jenn went down with us, so we invited them and Chris' parents over for dinner. Not surprisingly, that evening we had to have a little "wrestle mania".

Looks rougher than it was.

Pinned!

Chris' pink belly...paybacks from Noah.

I love when Chris and his brothers wrestle with his sister, Kerilyn. She is so funny! She loves it! The kids and I can't wrestle with her because she doesn't know her own strength. She can definitely take me down! Good things the guys are there to help her with her wrestling needs.

Well, that's the bulk of it. Next post: Halloween
