Happy day for Jonah! He is officially four years old now. This kid lights up my world. He makes me smile and laugh every day and reminds me why I love being a mom so much. He always hugs me and tells me he misses me (even if I haven't been gone...it is his new way of saying "I love you"). He can get just about anything he wants with his smile, and he knows it. His giggles are contagious. I love the funny stuff he says; he is a total character.
Four years went by waaayyy toooooo fast!
Jonah wanted to go swimming for his birthday. He wanted to invite a few friends, but then not others. I had to put my foot down and tell him he could invite all of his friends or only one. He chose one. So we took Ryan with us to the pool along with Zoe, Noah, Uncle Denny and Kim M. They had a great time! He was even brave enough to go down the slide by himself this time, which was a huge feat for him. Ryan and J loved standing under the waterfall and let the pressure pull their bottoms down (such boys). Zoe figured out how to "blow up" the top of her swimsuit, which was pretty funny too.
His second request was to have an "Army Party". He helped me decorate the night before and make the cake before swimming. Chocolate cake, of course, with some camoflauge M&Ms, army guys and a tank. He even had a tank plate for his cake.
After swimming we went home to shower up before the rest of the family joined us. While I was in the shower our little neighbor friend, Evan, came over to play. Of course Jonah invited him in, so we had extra party guests which made it even more fun. We were also joined by Nana Z, Adam & Jenn, Grandpa & Grandma Hardman, Kerilyn, Deb & the girls. We all had pizza and salad, then opened gifts before topping off with cake.
He had some great gifts this year and was really excited. Chris and I got him a bike and Star Wars stuff, Zoe a backpack, Noah a Star Wars tent, Nana & Uncle Denny a helmet and the army guys on his cake, Deb & girls some alphabet cards and K'nex, Grandpa & Grandma a Nerf gun, Keri a Star Wars shirt, Ryan a Spy Gear Watch, Hardmans a Target card and Adam and Jenn gave him a Captain Kirk figurine.
I wasn't sure if he would like the bike, as he has been too scared to try one. This bike does not have peddals at first, but you add them later after they have their balance figured out. So far so good. He loves it! He wore his bike helmet and backpack and rode around on his bike the rest of the night (in between getting in and out of his tent).
The next day, which was his acutal birthday, we just took it easy. He went to preschool and took these little favors filled with camo M&Ms.
Then we watched movies and played with all his toys.
Chris was finally able to get away for lunch on Friday. Jonah only had one reuqest...SHRIMP! For some reason, this picky eater LOVES shrimp. We headed to Red Lobster and he after finishing off his shrimp tackled a warm chocolate-chip cookie sundae (which he ate until his tummy hurt).
Now all the festivities are over and I just need to start adjusting to the fact that my little guy is four and remember to enjoy every moment because it goes way too fast!

It is so crazy! They grow up so fast! Why? I guess that is part of being a mom, but it makes me miss all those little things I will never have again.
it does go way too fast! I can't believe he is 4...I still remember how cute he always was to Bree in nursery when she first came in..he was so protective of her...what a cutie! Looks like the tent was a hit! I LOVE the cake and the goodie bags!!
What a fun birthday. I love the camo cake and favors. You're so creative. I can't believe they're 4 now. Remember us being pregnant together...seems like yesterday! Glad it was a fun birthday!
