School has finally started. We are on day three. People have asked what I was going to do without anyone home. Hmmmm....well, I wouldn't know. My children are so thoughtful, they haven't left me alone yet. :)
The first day, Jonah was home since it was a Thursday and he is only MWF. It was a tender day for me realizing that my little buddy wouldn't be around during the day. It has just been the two of us for a few years now. I am going to miss him, almost as much as he is missing me. We picked the kids up after school and Zoe immediately was not feeling well. Sure enough, she ended up with Strep which Noah had just a couple of days before.
Day 2: Zoe and her Strep stayed home with me and the boys went off to school.
Jonah was nervous, but his teacher got him involved and he seemed good so I left. They thought he was going home before lunch, but then realized he had his lunch and was staying a little longer. Having to go back in the school and not coming home to me made him homesick and teary. Luckily his thoughtful teachers went and got Noah. He helped Jonah eat a little of his lunch and gave him a treat to cheer him up (such a great brother!) so he was able to make it through the rest of the day.
Day 3: Noah came down with a serious case of food poisoning or something last night and cannot even keep water down, so he is home with me. Jonah was all geared up, dressed and excited to go this morning. In his prayer he talked about being excited to go to school, recess, etc. But then I had to ask what he wanted for lunch. This brought back traumatic memories of last week. He changed his mind and ran into his room, took off all his clothes and climbed back into bed. He had a little meltdown and refused to go to school. Ugh.
I eventually got him dressed and in the car. I made arrangements with the teachers to let Zoe come in and eat lunch with him. Then I sat with him for about 1/2 hour in his class. I finally got him to let go of me so I could go let the office know that Noah would not be coming. When I went back to check on him, he was involved with his class. He gave me a wave and blew me a kiss so I felt okay to leave. We'll see if I get a call later today.
The kids all love their teachers. Zoe has Mrs. Wright, Noah has Mrs. Craghead, and Jonah has four teachers which we met at his open house last Tuesday.

I will have to keep you posted on my alone time if and when it happens. I hope to not have too many more illnesses plaguing our home, but only time will tell...

Isn't it funny how everything happens one after another. Poor Jonah. Hopefully he will adjust soon.
