HAPPY EASTER!

Easter came and went in a rush this year. It was kind of weird having it come so early, but I feel kind of relieved that there is not another holiday for a while.

Easter Eve (Saturday) started with coloring eggs. We got the pack with egg tatoos, which was kind of fun for a change. It was still kind of hard for Jonah; he just wanted to play in the colored water. We got done just as my sanity was about to leave for the day.

Then it was time for Nana Z's annual Easter-egg hunt. She hid 105 eggs; some have money, other candy, and some have numbers that they use to pick prizes from her big Easter basket. My sister, Deb, came with her girls (Drien 15, Dazmn 12 & Daelee 3). It was really fun to see Jonah this year. He was totally into looking for eggs and didn't want to stop. Zoe was the lucky one who found the golden, "big money" egg. After all the eggs were found (or at least we thought) we came in to pick prizes. Lots of fun...thanks mom!

Next we went to Highland Care Center to see my Grandma Ewing. They were having an Easter party, bunny and all, for the resident's families. (Gram came down with Influenza and is staying there until she gets her strength back. She should be home this week. She is 92 going on 80 and we love every minute we have with her. Yes, she still lives completely on her own and voluntarily stopped driving just last year even though she still has her license.) My kids did not have any desire to have their picture with the Easter Bunny, so that is why there are no pics.

Easter morning we were able to find the eggs hidden by the Easter Bunny, go through our baskets, eat out traditional holiday breakfast (orange rolls, sausage and eggs) and make it to 9:00 am Sacrament meeting before the Sacrament (which is our normal time :)). I was really proud.

My kids got Webkinz in their Easter baskets. I had no idea what a big deal these are. We logged on to "adopt" their animals and I was introduced to a virtual world I did not know existed. They have been having so much fun. I think they actually received less this year than in years past, but it was just enough. I have to remember "less is more".

This is probably the last year Zoe will believe in the Easter Bunny. The boy she sits next to "spilled the beans", but she stood her ground. However, it has sparked a lot of conversation on the matter. I didn't lie to her, I just completely avoided her direct questions as to whether it was me. Finally, I decided I better get it over with. I did my research on the history of our Easter traditions and prepared how I was going to explain it, etc. When I approached her she told me she didn't have any questions and didn't want to talk about it. Guess I'll save my talk for Christmas... (I wish they could stay little forever!)

I hate when they find out the "truth" about the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus & the Tooth Fairy. I just let them know that they come to those that "believe". It keeps them at least wanting to believe.

It is nice to not have a holiday coming up huh?

Very cute post D. Give the kids a squeeze from Aunt Jill and tell them how much we love them. Happy late Easter!

Love ya!

I love the boys' sweaters, they are darling! It looks like you guys had a great holiday!

Will is starting to figure stuff out too. It makes me sad. I wish they could stay little forever!

we never used the easter bunny, but Grace is catching on to santa. I am fine with that, because it is fun to see her protect the fun for her sisters. besides you do all the work, don't you deserve the credit? well, a little at least.

I'm so impressed with all that you were able to do in the morning. That breakfast sounds so good. They looked so cute in their easter outfits. I love Jonah & Noah's sweaters, and Zoe just looks so grown up in that picture. I'm sad that Zoe is at the age of "knowing". What a good mom you are to prep yourself for the talk. Sounds like a very fun easter.
